Teachers protest reappointment of official as education authority chief – Newspaper


Rawalpindi: Lecturers’ and clerks’ associations held a symbolic sit-in on Murree Street on Saturday towards the appointment of Azam Kashif as chief govt officer of the District Training Authority and threatened to shut workplaces and block the excessive road on Tuesday if the federal government from Punjab didn’t withdraw the notification till August 1st.

The federal government on Saturday appointed Mr Kashif to go the district training board.

Previously, the officer was appointed twice within the district, however was transferred on the request of academics and officers.

The Punjab Lecturers Affiliation and Punjab Clerks Affiliation expressed their displeasure, saying the officer had been appointed for the third time within the district however academics and workers wouldn’t settle for him due to his conduct.

Members carried placards and chanted slogans in help of their demand.

Addressing the gathering, Raja Aurangzeb and Raja Shahid Mubarak mentioned the protest would proceed till their calls for had been met.

They mentioned the scope of the protest would widen from Monday.

“We might lockdown all Division of Training workplaces from Monday. If the appointment of the CEO shouldn’t be revoked, all Rawalpindi District academics and staff will block Murree Street from Press Membership Rawalpindi to the CEO’s workplaces and maintain a protest march.”

They mentioned there was no political agenda for academics and workers.
