If you are a resident of Delhi, even better; if not, you need to go to Delhi because there are many options to reach McLeodganj. You can take a night bus to McLeodganj, but this is not recommended. You need to travel all day so that you can rest and sleep well in McLeodganj.

Day 2: Travel from McLeodganj to Triund.

It starts at the main chowk. The first route is a high road with steep slopes. Between today’s journey to Dharamkot, Galu Devi Temple, and Magic View Cafe, which are 1, 2, and 6 km from McLeodganj, at Galu Devi Temple, your only option is to start your journey from there or return to McLeodganj. The last leg of the journey was tough and uphill. This model has the name “22 curves.” On arrival at Triund, pitch your tent and have lunch or dinner at any shop or house.

Trek from McLeodganj to Ilaqa Pass on Day 3

Get up early, have your breakfast, and start your journey. If you have any questions about the trip, ask any store or parking attendant. They will give you instructions. The Ilaqa Pass route is clearly marked with a yellow arrow. You will reach the Snowline Café, halfway through today’s journey, in about 2 hours. Take a break before continuing your journey to Ilaqa Pass. If you have time, you should visit the beautiful valley near the Ilaqa Pass. It takes about 2 hours to reach Ilaqa Pass from Snowline Cafe. Take your dinner there and relax because the next day is a big day.

Day 4: Trek from Ilaqa Pass to Indrahar Pass through Lahesh Caves before returning to Ilaqa Pass.

Start your journey early in the morning. Today’s journey was the longest and most difficult of the whole trip. The first destination is the Lahesh Caves. Lahesh Cave is a natural cave. The caves are a steep, one-hour climb. After resting, start your trek to Indrahar Pass. It takes around 4-5 hours to climb Lahesh Cave and another 2-3 hours to come down. The journey is difficult and complicated. If you are a beginner or don’t have much experience, it is recommended that you hire a guide from McLeodganj. Triune also has accessible guides. Enjoy the breathtaking panoramas of Dhauladhar Peak and Kangra Valley. Begin the descent as soon as possible to reach Ilaqa Pass before sunset.

Day 5: Trek through Ilaqa Pass to McLeodganj

The descent is straight, and reaching McLeodganj takes about 4-5 hours. If you drive too fast, you can get out because the process is hard and slippery. It will take about two hours to go to the temple. The trail is small and winding, going through a deep forest with a mix of uphill and downhill trails. The water is beautiful. After that, return to Mcleodganj and catch a bus to complete your journey or book a room and plan your itinerary for exploring Mcleodganj the next day.

When is the best time to visit?

Any time of the year is suitable for the journey.. If you want to see snow, go from March to June, and if you want to see clear skies, go from September to November. It is not recommended to travel during the rainy season as the roads are slippery and these months are usually low. You’ll also miss out on a great view as it’s often overshadowed.
